PathPix
puzzles make pictures.
|
|
Simple rules:
--Touch and drag to draw colored paths linking pairs of matching endpoints.
--The length of each path must match the numbers on the two endpoints that it connects.
|
|
Here is a new puzzle.
|
|
There is only one possible way to connect the black 6s, red 7s,
and assorted pairs of 2s.
|
|
Now that those paths are placed, you can see that there
is only one way to connect the red 5s and black 7s.
|
|
Draw the path linking the orange 3s. Now some other
paths are forced as well.
|
|
Here is the finished puzzle, with all paths drawn. Notice
that every square is filled.
|
|
And here is the simple picture that it makes - a squirrel!
|
Here are a few things to keep in mind as you solve:
- The length of each path must match the numbers on the
two endpoints that it connects.
- You aren't done until ALL the endpoints have been connected,
and every square has a path going through it.
- You can't go through the walls that separate some of
the squares on the grid.
- To erase a path or partial path, double-tap on the path
or draw backwards from one of the endpoints.
- The solution is unique - there is only one way
to solve each puzzle.
- Use the flashlight to highlight unsolved paths you may have missed. The flashlight (rising sun icon) will appear below the View screen when you only have a few more paths to solve.
- Every puzzle has a solution - guaranteed. Stuck on a puzzle? Drawing paths in your sleep? Send me a screenshot of your best attempt and get a personalized hint.

PathPix
is easy to play.
|
|
You can't see all of the puzzle all at once. There are
two ways to find your way to different areas of the puzzle.
1) Touch any part of the screen that does NOT have a number on it to scroll or pinch-zoom.
2) Use the Play/View button at the top of the screen:

Touch the button to zoom in or out. Zoom out to see the whole puzzle. Then decide where you would like to work next
and touch the screen at that point to zoom to the new location. You can also zoom in and out to
check your progress.

If you want to play a puzzle again, or just start over, touch the Restart button.
- Can't find the Restart button? To restart a solved puzzle, touch the puzzle picture on the scrolling puzzle list to get to the Win screen. To restart a puzzle in progress, press the View button on the navigation bar to get to the View screen. In both cases the restart button is the red-framed button in the lower left corner.

Touch the gear wheel to get to the Settings page. On the Settings page you can:
- Adjust the sound volume.
- Choose the way to color the rings around the path end numbers. If you are having trouble telling the difference between some colors, changing this setting can help. Choose between 'default', 'bright', and 'no rings'. Try them all to find the one you like best.
- Find more PathPix puzzle apps.

The flashlight button appears at the bottom of the View screen when you are almost done.
- Can't find the last few empty squares? Touch the
flashlight button, and all empty squares will flash pink
and green. Touch a group of flashing squares to go
directly to that point in the puzzle.

Touch the "?" to get to this info page.

PathPix Alice:
Read the book!
|
|
The classic novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland
was written by Lewis Carroll, the pseudonym used by
English writer, mathematician, logician, and photographer
Charles Lutwidge Dodgson. It was first published in 1865
with 42 wood engraved illustrations by Sir John
Tenniel. This version of the book contains the complete
original text plus thumbnails of the original black and
white illustrations.

- Solve the puzzles to illustrate the book with the
full-color PathPix puzzle images, based on the
original woodcuts.
- Touch the book icon at the top of the scrolling
puzzle list to go to the table of contents which
contains links to all the chapters.
- Touch a thumbnail in the book to find the
corresponding puzzle.
- Touch the book icon on the win screen or on the
scrolling puzzle list to go to the corresponding place
in the book. There you will find your finished puzzle
image, big and beautiful, and you can read the text
associated with the picture.
- Read the book! If you are already familiar with
Alice, then you know that you can read the book over
and over again. If you have never read the book
before, read it now. You are in for a very special
treat!
